Special Information

- This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to

complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility

with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are

rare.

- Employees of Facility Services are considered essential staff and

must report to work when the university is closed for emergencies.

This position is required to participate in on-call, call back

duties and snow removal, which can include days, nights, weekends,

and holidays. Under established circumstances will respond to

emergency dispatch calls within set timeframes Administrative or

Campus Living buildings.

Job Description

Assists in the installation, repair, and maintenance of university

plumbing to ensure functional campus systems. Inspects university

plumbing equipment, diagnoses problems, and makes necessary adjustments.

Maintains records of university plumbing needs and helps prepare

maintenance reports with information related to university plumbing

systems to be used for recommendations.

General Duties - 55%

- Installs, repairs and maintains chilled water, steam, heat, water,

gas, drainage, sewage and other plumbing systems.

- Inspects joints, valves, pumps, boilers, heaters, sinks, commodes,

tanks, valves and other plumbing system components to locate

malfunctions and repairs or replaces when necessary.

- Receives and responds to plumbing maintenance requests from campus

members regarding NAU Facilities.

- Records time and materials for customer billing

Supplemental Duties - 40%

- Operates reamers, threading discs, sewer tapes, pipe cutters, snakes

and other plumbing equipment and hand tools.

- Studies plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to

determine work requirements and sequence of repairs and/or

installations.

- Completes calculations and measurements to ensure pipes function

correctly.

- Performs preventative maintenance work as required.

- Escalates issues and questions to senior staff.

Other - 5%

- Other duties as assigned.

- Removes snow and ice from designated areas such as roofs, sidewalks

and entryways as required.

Minimum Qualifications

- High school degree.

- 1-2 years of plumbing work experience.

- Any combination of relevant education and experience may be

substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year

basis.

Preferred Qualifications

- Completion of a four year federally approved technical training

program in plumbing.

- Commercial plumbing experience.

- Knowledge of plumbing systems work including installation,

maintenance, and repair.

- Knowledge of all types of piping related to plumbing ( .e. Transite

piping, ductile, cast iron piping, PVC, galvanized, copper, PBS,

etc.).

Driving Requirement

Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a

regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety

Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become

authorized by submitting Driver\'s license information for driving

record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level

of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and

students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for
