**Position Summary**

Responsible for installation, repairs, and modifications to fire alarm and detection systems in full compliance with all applicable codes, as well as industry and company and company standards.

**Primary Responsibilities and Duties**

+ Install new systems and system components

+ Inspect and test fire protection or fire detection systems to verify that such systems are installed in accordance with appropriate laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards

+ Identify corrective actions necessary to bring alarm and detection systems into compliance with applicable fire codes, laws, regulations, and standards, and explain these measures to property owners or their representatives

+ Make modifications and/or repairs to existing alarm and detection systems

+ Attend training classes to maintain current knowledge of fire codes, regulations, and alarm systems

+ Respond to service calls for alarm and detection systems (may include emergency calls during non-standard working hours)

+ Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.

+ Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.

**Qualifications**

+ High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required

+ Experience in Fire Protection/Life Safety industry

+ Experience with fire detection systems including VESDA, FM200 and other gas extinguishing systems

+ Knowledge of functions associated with testing of fire alarms, access control, and security systems.

+ Complete knowledge of low voltage wiring, especially troubleshooting.

+ High level of knowledge & application of National Fire Alarm Code

+ Thoroughly capable of reading, interpreting, and applying system design plans, as well as building construction drawings and documents.

**Requirements**

+ Able to meet all physical requirements.

+ Must have all required tools

+ Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)

+ Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

+ Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload.

+ Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.

+ Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.

+ NICET Certification Level II or higher in Fire Alarm Systems required

+ Must have valid Driver's License and clean Department of Motor Vehicles report

+ All candidates offered a position must successfully pass pre-employment drug and background screens.
