What You’ll Do\:
Travel. This position oversees projects at all of our Alabama locations and may occasionally require out-of-state travel.
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure all assigned plants have zero accidents and fully comply with all Vulcan policies and procedures.
Implement Solutions . Responsible for consulting with Plant Managers on issues/projects and developing solutions. Must manage the project from start to finish, overseeing fabrication work and installation. Responsible for pre-job planning involving parts availability and forecasting job requirements to ensure tools and labor are available to complete the job on time. Also responsible for scheduling crusher maintenance jobs.
Manage Employee Relations . Provide strong leadership, training, team building, and supervision to all Central Services Crews. Foster teamwork among employees while upholding company guidelines, policies, and procedures, and maintaining morale across all department levels.
Determine Work Procedure . Establish work procedures, review crusher operating and repair manuals, interpret complex blueprints, complete assigned tasks, and delegate duties to personnel involved in welding on mobile and stationary equipment, as well as equipment maintenance.
Weld Materials. Weld materials in flat, vertical, and overhead positions. Select rod types, weld types, and welder settings. Cut materials using air arcs, burning rods, and acetylene/oxygen cutting torches to fit fabrication and job requirements. Perform welding repairs and maintenance on stationary production-related equipment, machinery, and structures such as conveyors, crushers, elevators, drives, and screws.
Inspect Equipment and Perform Repairs . Assist and organize the work of employees in the daily inspection and maintenance of the facility to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations, maximizing production and minimizing interruptions. Maintain the general appearance and security of grounds, buildings, equipment, and machinery.
Maintain Compliance . Ensure environmental and safety policy compliance in all facility activities, including those of outside contractors. Take prompt action to correct any conditions of non-compliance.
Inventory Control and Management. Assist in managing critical parts inventory. Assist and provide direction to parts employees to ensure parts are available and on time for scheduled shutdowns and planned maintenance activities.
Skills You’ll Need\:
Experience. Prior experience in industrial welding in a leadership role is preferred. Familiarity with general principles and practices of aggregate production is ideal. Experience in heavy maintenance or millwright and repair procedures is encouraged. Knowledge of screening and crusher operations is preferred .
Leadership and Management Skills. Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, including both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.
Problem-Solving Skills . Must possess the ability to work independently and solve problems while working alone or as part of a team.
Flexibility . Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and tolerate exposure to loud noises. Willingness to work a rotating schedule with varying shifts and overtime based on business conditions is essential. Travel time for this role exceeds 50% within the state, with occasional out-of-state travel.
