A private real estate investment and development firm is seeking a Vice President of Construction & Design Administration to lead the design and construction execution of its national portfolio of healthcare and office development projects. This senior leadership role can be based in either Wisconsin or Arizona and will collaborate closely with internal development teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
This role requires a strong technical foundation in commercial construction, extensive knowledge of healthcare and office building standards, and experience managing large-scale projects across multiple jurisdictions. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and takes pride in mentoring high-performing teams. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all phases of project design and construction, from early planning through closeout.
  • Guide design teams to ensure code compliance, constructability, and alignment with project goals.
  • Oversee contractor selection, contract negotiations, and performance management of external consultants and vendors.
  • Conduct regular site visits and meetings to monitor quality, safety, and adherence to design intent and project schedules.
  • Manage project budgets, cost controls, schedules, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on pro formas, cash flow forecasts, and reporting for senior leadership.
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and building standards (including ADA and healthcare-specific requirements).
  • Mentor project management staff and support the development of best practices and team cohesion.
  • Serve as a key liaison with clients, partners, and regulatory agencies throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field required; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in commercial construction with emphasis on healthcare and office developments.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously with full accountability for cost, schedule, and team performance.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction codes, systems, and methods, particularly in Arizona and/or Wisconsin.
  • BOMA certification(s) required; additional credentials such as PMP, CCM, or LEED AP strongly preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
