Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI Technologies is hiring an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer our team in the Mid-Atlantic region. This person's primary responsibilities will consist mainly of design drawings and specifications but also includes assessments, energy studies, reports, and commissioning reports. This person will also assist with quality control / quality assurance of our deliverables. This person will also assist in training junior level engineers in mechanical engineering design.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Demonstrate proficient technical knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems relative to years of experience.
  • Design HVAC and plumbing systems for various building types which may include: retail, office, hospitality, multi-family residential, K-12 and higher education, and central plant for new work and renovation projects, both public and private.
  • Adhere to contracted scope of work as well as applicable codes and design standards.
  • Alert project manager to issues with completing project scope and/or scope creep.
  • Manage personal project workload to be sure project schedules are met. Communicate with group managers in a timely fashion regarding concerns about meeting schedules.
  • Coordinate with other project disciplines e.g., electrical, structural, architectural.
  • Develop/edit specifications for projects either on drawings or in Masterspec book format.
  • Perform construction bid phase and construction administration services including responding to RFIs, reviewing equipment submittals, executing rough-in and final punch list inspections.
  • Develop scope of work and fee for project proposals.
  • Perform non-design work such as energy audits and building assessments.
  • Advance technical knowledge through continuing education seminars and/or conferences.
  • Efficiently use software including Revit, Trane TRACE, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office products.
Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Required:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field (AEC Industry)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring engineering projects.
  • Proven experience in project management roles, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to construction management, quality assurance, and safety protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:

  • Masters Degree

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)
