Decorative Plasterer

We are in the business of creating experiential retail. We dream up the concepts; you execute them. Must have experience in plastering, mold making, casting, and scagliola.

We are looking for a self motivated individual that can take concepts through to completion, manage time lines and budgets.

Must be a self starter, creative, and have an uncompromising attention to detail.

This is a permanent full time position for 30 hours/week with our team at The Market Garden, located at 810 Catherine St, in beautiful Victoria, BC. You must speak, write and read English with native level proficiency.

Wage is $35 / hour, 30 hours / week. Additional perks are $1 per hour worked applied to your in store available credit and 30% off all merchandise.

You will primarily be working at the main store but we are always considering expansion and there may be another location in the Saanich Peninsula in the near future.

Main Duties

Basic Plastering:

Clean and prepare surfaces

Mix plaster ingredients in trough to desired consistency

Apply, level, smooth and polish coats of plaster using trowels, floats, brushes

Finish corners and angles

Decorative Plastering:

Create decorative plaster molds from silicone

Cast decorative plaster pieces

Assemble and install decorative plaster pieces

Mix plaster pigments to achieve desired results

Cast and polish scagliola

Tadelakt technique

Employment Requirements:

Completion of a three- or four-year apprenticeship program in plastering or over five years of relevant work experience
