  • Full Time

We are looking for an experienced electrical design engineer for the Quantum Core group where you'll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world's best quantum computers to solve the world's most complex problems.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, simulation and validation of precision analog and mixed-signal electronics to control the qubits at the core of our computers. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology and work on challenging and rewarding projects from concept to production.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to the architecture, design, and verification of analog and mixed-signal circuits and systems, including but not limited to:

  • Precision amplifiers, voltage references, data converters (ADCs/DACs), LDOs, and other analog building blocks

  • Mixed-signal and power distribution circuits to interface with high speed logic (FPGAs)

  • Perform board-level design, simulation, and layout using industry-standard EDA tools (e.g. LTSpice, Altium)

  • Develop and execute detailed test plans to verify circuit performance, robustness, and power efficiency across voltage and temperature variations

  • Debug and troubleshoot PCBA issues and implement effective solutions

  • Work effectively within a cross-functional team, including digital designers, software engineers, system engineers, and product managers to ensure that electronic designs meet higher level system performance requirements

You'd be a good fit with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 15+ years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in analog / mixed-dignal design
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard EDA tools for schematic capture, layout and simulation
  • Experience with electronic validation and characterization using lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, signal generators)

You'd be a great fit with:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with the use of scripting languages such as Python for automated test
  • Experience with the design of analog / mixed-signal ASICs
  • Experience with the design of electronic packaging or multi-chip modules
  • Familiarity with power distribution network (PDN) design and characterization
  • Experience designing for low electromagnetic emission and susceptibility
