Your Role at Keystone Automotive Operations
Keystone Automotive Operations, Inc. is currently looking to hire a Project Engineer for our Elkhart, IN location. Our Project engineers are responsible for providing engineered solutions to support the Research and Development group, and for driving to improve operational performance.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide project leadership and execution.
  • Provide engineering support to internal and external manufacturers.
  • Participate in a cross functional team.
  • Lead design projects requiring development of new features and/or product enhancements to meet specific needs.
  • Achieve successful completion of assigned work responsibilities on time, within budget, schedule requirements.
  • Provide engineering support to the technical / warranty department.
  • Develop quality control inspection forms and product assembly instructions.
  • Light domestic travel possible, with potential for non-routine overseas travel as project needs evolve.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • BSME\BSMET required
  • 3+ years experience in automotive\towing product which heavy truck chassis experience
  • Proficiency in 3D solid modeling mechanical CAD software, Certified Solidworks Associate preferred
  • Experienced with drafting and revising engineering drawings & Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Experience with basic General Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong technical ability with the drive to communicate project details to related teams.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills to develop engineering solutions to product problems.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.
  • Transfer Path Analysis (TPS) experience.
  • Project costing experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. to support project teams efforts and driving the project with internal & external stakeholders.
  • Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills. May train others in functional areas, interact with others and make presentations to department or middle management.
  • Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
  • Decisions directly related to the success of the business unit involved with.
  • This role is intended for someone motivated that prefers autonomy and the ability to drive their own projects.
  • Handles multiple projects tied to the success of multiple business units.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process and materials. (Milling, Turning, Forming, Welding, & material selection abilities.)

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit for extended periods of time.
  • The employee may be exposed to hazardous situations, conditions, and equipment. Must be able to work in cramped spaces or underneath vehicles that may require getting into awkward positions. May regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE). May be exposed to extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
  • Light domestic travel possible, with potential for non-routine overseas travel as project needs evolve.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
