Manage public construction projects for various agencies as the Prime / General Contractor. (NYCHA, NYC HHC, MTA, NYC Parks, PANYNJ, SUNY, DASNY, etc.)
Manage and oversee a team of field construction workers.
Manage and coordinate subcontractors effectively and efficiently.
Coordination of various construction trades, including GC, carpentry, demolition, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, sprinkler, concrete, structural steel, roofing, etc.
Ordering/releasing material and coordinating deliveries.
Daily interaction with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Client / Client Representatives, Architects and Engineers.
Lay-out work, field verify dimensions, and coordinate between contract drawings and shop drawings.
Ensure the construction complies with the contract documents (drawings and specifications).
Manage jobsite safety and administer weekly toolbox talks to workers.
Maintenance of daily log, daily reports, and sign-in sheets.
Communicate field discrepancies and generate RFIs.
Attend and participate in weekly meetings, including project and subcontractor meetings.
Coordinate required inspections and site testing.
Work alongside the Project Manager on the preparation of the 2-week lookahead, project schedule, and any other assistance required from office staff.
Mindfully monitoring expended project costs, including labor time and material.
Provide labor and material takeoffs for change order work.
Close out projects: punch list completion and redlines for as-built drawings.
Educational And Professional Qualifications:
5-8 years of construction industry experience with 3-5 years as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
A proven track record managing successful construction projects with multiple subcontractors and contract amounts ranging from $1M to $15M. Providing a project list is a plus.
Must be able to efficiently multitask and manage multiple ongoing projects.
Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
Ability to write a clear daily report.
Must be able to communicate field issues to Project Managers, Construction Managers, Architects and Engineers.
A competent knowledge of construction means and methods.
Problem-solving mindset and the ability to efficiently correct field issues to keep projects moving/mitigate delays.
Time management and ability to meet deadlines.
Must be willing to work in a team environment and mentor junior superintendents.
Experience with ProCore software is a plus.
Willingness to travel to jobsites throughout New York City
Must be able to pass a criminal background check, have reliable transportation and be able to work autonomously.
Certifications / Licensure:
SST Supervisor Card (62-Hour Training) including OSHA 30
NYC DOB Construction Superintendent License, Site Safety Manager or Site Safety Coordinator certifications are a plus but are not required.
