Structural Designer

A leading power client of Insight Global is seeking a Structural Designer to add to their EPC Engineering and Design team in Leawood, KS! This designer will focus on structural foundation and steel modeling while also contributing to our department in creating guidelines and procedures. Code sets including ASCE, AISC, ACI, and IBC will all need constant review as standards and codes change. You will work collaboratively with the integrated EPC team along with clients to execute and provide world class, quality focused deliverables for the construction team.

- Design structural foundations and steel systems for EPC power projects, including SCRs, turbines, transformers, tanks, switchgear, and water treatment buildings.

- Create and plan technical drawings, including design layouts and calculations, to support production work.

- Review 3D models to identify clashes and improve constructability.

- Take ownership of structural design alongside the Principal Engineer and Engineer of Record.

- Prepare and review structural drawings and coordinate 3D modeling efforts.

- Address and resolve feedback from drawing reviews.

- Develop final construction documents by incorporating RFIs, change notices, and field markups.

- Identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction, design quality, and workflow efficiency.

- Assist in creating and refining standards and templates for consistent project delivery.

- Stay current with new technologies and industry practices, and apply them effectively.

- Apply relevant design codes and specifications accurately.

- Ensure designs meet requirements for safety, operability, quality, and maintenance before submission.

Skills and Requirements

- 3+ years of experience as a structural designer

- Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.

- 3+ years of experience utilizing Tekla for structural engineering design - Structural modeling Experience in EPC Power or Substation Industry null
