Pratt & Whitney's Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) organization is seeking a goal-oriented and detail-focused Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support our Turbine Airfoil Casting Team (TACT). The selected candidate will support the airfoil casting tooling qualification process as defined per PW-QA 6078, which is necessary to ensure the quality of P&W's engines. In addition, the TACT supports process improvement efforts at casting suppliers and evaluates nonconformance in support of product delivery.

What You Will Do:

  • Disposition of airfoil casting tooling qualification packages per PW-QA 6078.
  • Disposition of quality defects, many of complex scope, ensuring engineering excellence and defining Right-size Analysis through a risk-based decision-making process.
  • Influence multi-disciplinary teams, including engineering discipline Subject Matter Experts, project, operations, quality, and procurement to drive root cause investigations, develop associated corrective actions, and implement product and process improvements.
  • Support time-critical quality issues in support of engine and module delivery.
  • Develop Class II engineering change packages to improve quality, cost, and producibility metrics.
  • Incorporate Pro-Cert methodology and data-driven decision making into the Class II process.
  • Drive continuous improvement into the product development cycle and design of next-generation hardware.
  • Travel up to 10% (Domestic and International).

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) and 5 years of experience in engineering, or an Advanced degree and 3 years of engineering experience.
  • U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • A Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Turbomachinery experience in Airfoil design or manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Teamcenter, Unigraphics NX, and classical methods of analysis.
  • Experience with GD&T ASME Y14.5M-1994.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and deadlines.

Department/Segment Overview: The Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) organization has the broad charter of making product design improvements and supporting Operations and the worldwide supplier base during PWs unprecedented ramp-up in commercial jet engine production. The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
