Departmental Objective:Facilities Management is responsible for maintaining campus buildings utilizing the carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades as well as housekeeping and floor maintenance.
Purpose of the Position:This position will provide repair and maintenance to the HVAC equipment and associated motors and controls. This includes chillers, pumps, VFDs, boilers, specialized controls, etc. It will operate energy management systems. This position will assist in purchasing materials and supplies using small purchase credit card and eVA. It will maintain records for purchases and track inventory.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position:- Working knowledge of methods, practices, materials and equipment used in air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems to maintain HVAC systems and related equipment in operating condition.
- Ability to make adjustments to thermostats, gauges, valves, motors and other devices to maintain equipment in proper working order and to document the equipment service records.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow all safety policies and wear PPE as required.
- Understanding of OSHA and VOSH regulations.
- Ability to work Monday Friday, 2 pm 11 pm.
- Ability to work off-hours or overtime during emergency calls.
- Ability to be on-call on a rotational basis.
- Ability to safely lift and carry heavy loads (more than 50 lbs.) in accordance with established safety protocols.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring pushing and pulling of equipment, carts, or materials as needed.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while performing job-related tasks.
- Ability to bend, kneel, or crouch as needed to complete assigned duties.
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods, maintaining focus and productivity in a sedentary work environment.
- Ability to walk for extended periods or distances as required by the job.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, or arms, often associated with typing, data entry, and similar.
- Ability to reach and extend arms in various directions to access materials, tools, or equipment as needed for task completion.
- Ability to tolerate climbing stairs and ladders in accordance with established safety protocols.
Education Required :
- High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
- Universal EPA Certification
Experience Required:
- Considerable experience in HVAC trade
Education Preferred:
- Associates degree in related field
- Journeyman or Master HVAC license
Experience Preferred:
- Experience with energy management/building automation systems
- Experience in residential and commercial equipment
