GFT is seeking a Bridge Design Engineer Intern to join our Transportation Team in Fort Worth, TX ! This role follows a hybrid work model , requiring regular attendance at our Fort Worth, TX office.

Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

This internship offers hands-on experience in the design and analysis of bridge structures, providing an excellent opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world engineering challenges.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Assist in the structural analysis and design of bridges using industry-standard software.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, plans, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Perform calculations and assist in the development of design reports and technical documentation.
  • Support the team in reviewing shop drawings and contractor submittals.

Qualifications

What you'll bring to our firm:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Completed coursework in structural analysis, reinforced concrete, and steel design.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation CAD software and structural analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What we prefer you bring:

  • Previous internship or co-op experience in structural or transportation engineering.
    Exposure to bridge design standards and codes (AASHTO, TxDOT Standards, etc.).

Compensation:

The hourly range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00. Hourly range is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
