Position Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Construction Accountant to support our Finance Department in managing accounts payable, purchase order processing, finance tracking, inventory oversight, and other administrative tasks. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial operations, supporting project setup, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and external requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Accounts payable processing and organization
  • Preparation of weekly check run for submission to corporate
  • Tracking of DMV payments and ensure registration and tags are received
  • Coordinate with Fleet Manager on Shop/Fleet purchase orders. Communicate with vendors on open orders and any invoice discrepancies
  • Obtain City business licenses as needed
  • Communicate with corporate office on invoices, validating invoice information once posted and work through issues.

Purchase Order Processing

  • Track purchase orders in the system, ensure they are receipted and completed timely.
  • Match invoices to purchase orders to ensure accuracy prior to sending to corporate offices for payment processing.
  • Follow up with departments on open/on hold/pending approval order on a periodic basis (weekly/monthly)

Finance Related

  • Pull winning bids monthly and reconcile to ERP system to obtain a backlog of winning bids that we have not received contracts
  • Set up new projects in Acumatica and bid folders on shared drive

o Import bids from bidding software into ERP system

o Obtain project budgets from the Estimating team on projects not originated from bidding software and enter into the ERP system

  • Review job cost reports monthly for our large projects to ensure revenue and expenses match the period incurred.

Inventory

  • Designate inventory items to be part of the weekly cycle count to the Sign Shop Manager and Warehouse Manager. Research any large variances.
  • Work with management team on semi-annual inventory counts and building a cohesive process for accurate counts.
  • Perform periodic audits high volume/high dollar inventory items

Miscellaneous

  • Act as the backup for payroll processing
  • Complete certified payroll
  • Document processes as they are established and communicate to the management team
  • Assist Manager with administrative responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, job costing, & accounts payable with a focus on construction
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (preferably Acumatica or similar platforms).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Expert Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Outlook).
  • Experience with inventory or payroll processes is a plus.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

BC Traffic Specialist is in Garden Grove, CA. Local travel will be required.
