We are seeking a
Structural CAD Designer
to join our dynamic and growing consulting engineering team based in New Orleans. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in structural drafting and design across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects, and project managers to develop high-quality construction documents that meet client expectations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, develop, and revise detailed structural drawings using AutoCAD based on input from structural engineers and architects.
Translate structural design concepts into accurate, clear, and code-compliant construction documents.
Coordinate with architectural, mechanical, civil, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and conflict-free designs.
Maintain adherence to project specifications, industry codes, and internal drafting standards.
Incorporate design changes and redline markups provided by engineering staff.
Assist with documentation control and ensure timely tracking of revisions and submittals.
Participate in project coordination meetings and maintain close communication with engineering teams throughout project lifecycles.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree or technical certification in CAD drafting or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural drafting/design within a consulting or A/E firm.
Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with 3D CAD tools is a plus.
Knowledge of structural systems, including steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.
Understanding of relevant building codes (e.g., IBC, ACI, AISC).
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with industrial structures, material handling support systems, marine structures, or storm resilience projects.
Familiarity with Gulf Coast design standards and regional project experience, particularly in the New Orleans area.
Working knowledge of structural design related to oil & gas, chemical, or marine facilities.
