Celerity designs, builds and maintains fiber optics and wireless infrastructure. We have been in business for almost 23 years. We are currently looking for a FT Directional Drill Operator. The Directional Drill Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operation of company directional drill equipment which is primarily used in a job site setting where the construction of overhead and underground telecommunication lines is being performed. This is a full-time, hourly position that may require 8 to 10-hour days, flexible hours, and some weekends. Celerity offers free health insurance for all full-time employees.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Must have proven track record operating a Horizontal Direction Drill (HDD)
Utility Avoidance
Locator Functionality
Proper Maintenance
Safety Procedures
Operates heavy machinery, which is typically used in the utility construction of both overhead and underground telecommunication lines, including but not limited to the following: directional drill, tractor, backhoe, excavator, skid steer, or forklift, but excludes the operation of cranes. Employee may be subject to operating machines within a construction site that includes gas transmission and distribution pipelines, electric power transmission and distribution lines, and electric substations.
Completes One Call pre-job mark-outs based on drawings and job requirements.
Responsible for inspecting and maintaining equipment daily and ensuring equipment is safe and ready for operations. Coordinates needed repairs with the Fleet/Equipment coordinator.
Assists with the requisitioning, handling, and transporting of materials, equipment, and tools.
Responsible for maintenance and organization of tools and equipment.
Perform Safe Confined Space Entry and assist with confined space entry on job sites per OSHA requirements.
Complete Traffic Control Training and assist with traffic control services in work zones.
Follow proper safety and incident reporting procedures.
Communicate effectively with other team members and supervisory personnel.
Travel required.
Required to be On-Call as assigned.
Required to work weekends and nights if necessary.
Other duties may include assisting the construction department from time to time with other aspects of utility construction including some aerial work.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent
2 years of experience related to the operation of heavy equipment used in utility construction. Experience with directional drills needed.
Advanced knowledge of OSHA requirements applicable to equipment operations, repair and maintenance is needed.
Valid commercial driver's license, (CDL-A) and current DOT medical exam card are a requirement of this position.
OSHA 30 a plus but not required
Competencies
Good mechanical aptitude.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
Ability to read, understand and carry out instructions.
Strong attention to detail.
Able to effectively work independently and as a team member.
Must be able to travel and stay overnight as required.
Must be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Must live within 1 hour from Quakertown
Physical and Other Requirements:
The employee must regularly carry, move, push, pull, install, and/or remove tools and equipment weighing up to 95 pounds. The employee must be physically able to safely operate a variety of machinery and equipment including shovels, rakes, sledgehammers, pickaxes, excavators, plows, trenchers, company vehicles, and other telecommunications or construction equipment. Reasonable accommodation may be provided for individuals with disabilities to be able to perform the essential functions of this job.
Working Conditions:
Employee will regularly work outdoors in various weather conditions. The successful candidate for this position will be able to work at elevated heights, in manhole systems and confined spaces. May be required to be "on call" at various times, on various days throughout the year.
