Position Overview:
The estimator is responsible for determining the anticipated costs associated with a project. The primary function is to analyze project requirements, write the proposal letter, calculate the costs of labor, materials, and equipment, and provide detailed cost estimates to support bidding, budgeting, and decision-making processes. Key Responsibilities:
  • Cost Estimation: Calculate total project costs by analyzing labor, materials, equipment, overhead, and contingencies. This often involves detailed mathematical calculations and data analysis to ensure accuracy .
  • Quantity Takeoff: Determine the precise quantities of materials required for a project by reviewing construction drawings and specifications .
  • Bid Preparation: Compile cost data, timelines, and specifications to prepare and submit competitive bids or proposals for projects .
  • Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain and review quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring completeness and compliance with project requirements .
  • Risk Analysis: Assess potential risks and uncertainties that could impact project costs or timelines and incorporate these considerations into estimates .
  • Cost Analysis and Pricing: Monitor and analyze current market prices for materials and labor, adjusting estimates as needed to maintain competitiveness and profitability .
  • Value Engineering: Identify and propose cost-saving alternatives in materials, methods, or processes without compromising on quality .
  • Reporting: Create and deliver detailed estimate reports to account managers, project managers, or other stakeholders, supporting decision-making throughout the project lifecycle .
  • Compliance: Ensure all estimates and proposals comply with relevant regulations, client requirements, and company policies .
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, operations, and field teams to ensure seamless project execution from start to finish.
  • Product & Market Knowledge: Stay current on our offerings and industry trends to effectively position our value in the market.

  • Independent: Comfortable working autonomously and taking full ownership of your territory and accounts.
  • Technical Acumen: Willingness and ability to develop deep expertise in Building Automation Systems.
  • Problem Solver: Analytical and solution-focused with a strategic approach to overcoming challenges.
  • Mathematical Proficiency: Strong mathematical skills are fundamental for calculating costs, analyzing data, and ensuring precise estimations
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and blueprints: Understanding of projects specifications, addenda, ASIs, RFIs, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical drawings.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in Building Automation, IOT, CCTV, Card Access, Open Protocols, and electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Bluebeam.
  • Ability to travel within the designated territory.
  • At least 10 years in the Building Automation Industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred but not required with relevant experience.
