Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician, under the direction of the Facilities Manager, is responsible for performing general maintenance duties and painting responsibilities for the buildings, grounds and common areas of all Wheaton Eye Clinic locations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining proper supply stock levels and preparing order sheets when running low on supplies.
  • Perform maintenance of electrical systems including but not limited to replacing light bulbs / ballasts.
  • Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs, or other drainage problems.
  • Performing routine maintenance around the building and reporting any potential problems or issues to the facility manager .
  • Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
  • Adjusting temperatures as needed to maintain comfort around the facility.
  • Applying preventative measures to the building to reduce the risk of future problems and safety hazards.
  • Painting around the interior of building when walls become chipped, dented, or scratched.
  • Must meet attendance requirements as outlined in current Wheaton Eye Clinic policy.
  • Travel between all Wheaton Eye Clinic locations as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings and/or electrical systems.
  • Skill in the use of custodial materials and chemicals.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use, operate, and maintain equipment and tools.
  • Ability to perform general maintenance functions and to follow instructions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present information to all levels necessary.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with staff, physicians, patients and general public.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision.
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Must be punctual, pleasant, and tactful with professional appearance and conduct.
  • Independently organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety requirements. Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Software / Computer Skills:

  • Ability to use and operate electronic office equipment including but not limited to computer, keyboard, mouse, fax machine, telephone, copier.
