The Role

We are seeking an engineer with a background in building performance and HVAC design analytics to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in decarbonization planning, simulation tools, low-emissions system design and integrated sustainable design strategies. This Project Director role involves contributing to energy analytical studies from early design through delivery to optimize energy performance, carbon impact, and occupant comfort, while ensuring technical rigor, timely execution, and high client value.

Responsibilities

  • Independently evaluates, selects, applies, adapts/modifies, and explains methodologies, techniques, procedures and criteria regarding optimal building performance.
  • Clear understanding of project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Increases focus on developing deliverables to convey intent to clients.
  • Contributes to team while under limited supervision.
  • Build more advanced knowledge and skills of latest building codes, technologies, and best practices in carbon and energy analyses, building performance optimization and integrated sustainable strategies.
  • Coordinate project work with the wider decarbonization team, ensuring quality and accuracy in their work.
  • Foster a collaborative environment and promote knowledge sharing among team members.
  • Organizes and ensures appropriate information is included and effectively presented in deliverables based on contractual scope and an understanding of the clients needs and preferences.
  • Assist in basic proposal writing.
  • Develop skills to become more outward facing on projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Science, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in HVAC design, energy modeling and simulation.
  • Proficiency in energy modeling software such as EnergyPlus, IES VE, eQUEST, or similar tools.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and standards related to energy efficiency.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as BEMP (Building Energy Modeling Professional), CEM (Certified Energy Manager).
  • LEED AP, ILFI accreditation preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Passive House concepts and standards.

Compensation

The rate for this position generally is $93,000 - $135,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employees pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
