Airport Electrical Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Airport Maintenance Manager, Airport Manager
LOCATION: ALB
AIRPORT: Albany International Airport
SUMMARY
The Airport Electrical Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the Airport Maintenance Electrical Department. The incumbent ensures compliance with NEC, NFPA, FAA, DOT, local, state and federal regulations. The supervisor manages projects, prepares reports, and responds to electrical emergencies. Supervision is accomplished in cooperation and coordination with other Airport departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Ensures worker training; ensures all work complies with company policies and local, state, and federal electrical codes, as well as airport safety regulations including lock/out tag/out practices.
+ Supervision and Management; assigns work, reviews progress, provides guidance, and trains subordinate employees.
+ Recommends measures to improve working conditions and enhance manpower efficiencies.
+ Constantly monitors labor effort and production. Sets goals and makes a concerted effort to achieve them.
+ Lead by exampleset, monitor, and enforce the standards of safety, and exemplary quality of work set forth by the Company
+ Must be hands on as needed to diagnose and resolve electrical issues, ensuring minimal disruptions to airport operations.
+ Coordinates work with other departments, contractors, and engineers to assess electrical needs and ensure smooth operations.
+ Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
+ Overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, including lighting, airfield lighting, power disruption, power, distributions, and emergency systems.
+ Makes recommendations to the Airport Maintenance Manager and the Airport Manager on plans for construction, renovation and rehabilitation of airport buildings, facilities and equipment.
+ Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crews, reports on and revises maintenance routines.
+ Maintain accurate records of work performed, repairs, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
+ Advises Airport Maintenance Manager of needed tools, equipment, parts and supplies; assists in airport inventories.
+ Assists in preparing the annual operating budget.
+ Conducts and/or attends various training sessions to teach or acquire the skills necessary to meet safety requirements and operate all types of equipment, and to participate in snow removal and emergency operations.
+ Stays updated on new technologies and practices in electrical systems, especially those relevant to airport operations.
+ Conducts regular inspections of electrical systems including Airfield Lighting Systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
+ Directs routine and non-routine inspection and maintenance of the airfield, terminal and parking lots on airport grounds on a frequent basis to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the airport, and to determine maintenance needs and plan work procedures.
+ Actively participates in Total Quality Management Programs.
+ Assists Airport Maintenance Manager in other duties as assigned.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Directly supervises all Electrical Department employees.
+ Executes supervisor responsibilities in accordance with Avports policies and applicable laws
+ Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; recommending rewards and discipline; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Must be able to obtain a US Customs Seal.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two year degree in electrical construction and maintenance with an additional three years of work experience or five-year trade school program with journeyman certification or high school diploma (general education development (GED) certificate) with five years experience as a commercial or industrial electrician.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general industry periodicals, professional journals technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to effectively respond to and act in a calm, controlled manner in an emergency situation.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid New York State drivers license as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a C.D.L., Class B license as a condition of employment.
