Performs technical work maintaining, repairing, installing or modifying tools, machinery, heavy equipment and vehicles, coordinating the use of the service center, keeping applicable records, reports and files related to services rendered, and related work.

| Technical and Administrative Duties |

| - Diagnoses and repairs equipment. |

| - Schedules and performs preventative maintenance on equipment. |

| - Diagnoses electrical and mechanical faults. |

| - Performs computer data scans on vehicles. |

| - Installs new and used equipment and parts. |

| - Completes data entry of work orders. |

| - Purchases and orders parts inventory. |

| - Responds to roadside repair requests or service calls. |

| - Orders parts for maintenance and repairs. |

| - Fabricates or repairs items through welding and body repair. |

| - Assists with mosquito control. |

| - Assists with snow removal and ice control; drives a snow plow |

| truck, pay loader or sander. |

| - Assists and acts as a back up to other department staff for |

| public works activities. |

| - Prepares and maintains records and files. |

| |

| Oversight is exercised over seasonal personnel. |

| Participates in a variety of meetings and trainings. |

| The incumbent may encounter not public data in the course of these |

| duties. Any access to not public data should be strictly limited to |

| accessing the data that are necessary to fulfill the employment |

| responsibility. While data are being accessed, incumbent should take |

| reasonable measures to ensure the not public data are not accessed by |

| individuals without a work reason. Once the work reason to access the |

| data is reasonably finished, incumbent must properly store the not |

| public data according to the provisions of the Minnesota Government |

| Data Practices Act (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 13). |

| If a new work assignment requires access to not public data, the |

| incumbent is permitted to access not public data for the work |

| assignment purposes only. Any access to not public data must be |

| strictly limited to the data necessary to complete the work |

| assignment and after the assignment is completed, the employees work |

| assignment no longer requires access. |

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent and Associates/Technical degree in truck mechanics, auto and light truck mechanics, or related field and moderate experienc working on equipment and truck mechanics, auto and light truck mechanics, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requirements:

- Valid commercial drivers license.

Applicable position, department, organization and professional training will be provided and must be completed upon hire and on an ongoing basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of the methods, tools and equipment used in the repair of cars, trucks, road construction and maintenance equipment.

Thorough knowledge and skill in the use and operation of shop tools and machinery.

Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and the safety precautions necessary for proper equipment repair and operation.
