Job Description
I. JOB TITLE: Assistant Facility Foreman JOB TYPE: 705 POSITION REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Maintenance PAY GRADE: MNT-9 FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt ASSIGNMENT PERIOD 260 days
II. SUMMARY OF POSITION'S PURPOSE
Provides mentorship and coaching to the Facility Managers. Assist in managing the overall custodial needs of the facilities through staff level supervision, inspections, standards adherence and training.
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION - High School Diploma or its equivalent. Achieve a passing score on the NOCTI assessment for Facility Managers
EXPERIENCE - Minimum of three (3) years of Facility Management experience.
SKILLS - Must have a well-rounded knowledge of all custodial and facilities management related functions. Must have good organizational and managerial skills.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Must be physically capable of lifting in excess of 25 pounds on a continual basis. This position requires sustained manual dexterity with close mental/visual attention and the ability to perform job functions in a standing position for a majority of the work day. This position is exposed to environmental extremes, chemicals and fumes on a daily basis.
IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports the Supervisor of Maintenance and Facility Foreman through mentorship and coaching the facility manager at the school level.
- Assist the Facility Foreman with inspections, adherence to APSB Custodial policies and standards.
- Assist the Facility Foreman with training the custodial staff.
- Assists with new product feasibility testing and implementation of new products.
- Ensures purchasing and inventory procedures are followed by the facility manager/head custodian.
- Ensures day, week and monthly schedules are created and followed with facility managers/head custodian.
- Ensures the facility manager/head custodian has basic understanding of the Integrated Pest Management Manual and the Asbestos Manual.
- Inspects all schools and sites to determine whether energy-savings procedures are being followed; reports results to Supervisor of Maintenance.
- Reviews custodial/maintenance needs with Supervisor of Maintenance.
- Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers including students, parents, co-workers, etc. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that student and employee records confidentiality is assured.
- Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.

- Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
- Performs other duties as required.
