Performs construction and alterations within the Hospital. Applies coats of paint, varnish, stains, enamels or lacquer to decorate and protect Hospital interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures.
Job Responsibility
*1.Performs construction and alterations within the Hospital.
*2.Smoothes surfaces, using sandpaper, wire brushes or steel wool and removes old paint from surfaces using paint remover, scrapers or blow torch to prepare surfaces for painting.
*3.Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster or other filler.
*4.Applies coats of paint, varnish, stains, enamels or lacquer to decorate and protect Hospital interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures.
*5.Selects pre-mixed paints or prepares paint to match specified colors by blending and mixing required proportions of pigment, oil, thinning, and drying substances.
*6.Paints surfaces using brushes, spray gun or paint rollers. Simulates wood grain, marble, brick or tile effects.
*7.Paints signs and cuts stencils, whitewashes, refinishes furniture and fixtures, when required.
*8.Responds to hospital emergencies such as sanding, snow removal, floods, etc. as directed.

Job Qualification
1.High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Completion of an accredited apprenticeship in the painting trade, preferred.
2.Minimum of five (5) years painter experience in a hospital, industrial plant or similar institution, required. Hospital setting, preferred.
