Summary: Development Manager II is responsible for day-to-day aspects of project development, from site prospecting through the commencement of construction. The focus of this position will be to help screen, identify, secure, and develop profitable site opportunities to meet RES development goals. Requirements:
  • Oversees site identification by working with wind resource and transmission teams to apply fundamental site criteria (land ownership, wind resource, access to existing transmission lines, constructability, and other pertinent standards).
  • Works closely with energy resource engineers to identify optimum project sites and develop land acquisition strategies.
  • Works closely with legal counsel and senior development team members to draft land-rights documents.
  • Works with landowners and energy resource engineers to get measured equipment permitted and installed.
  • Works with the finance team to assess the viability of emerging opportunities.
  • Manages environmental and permitting work.
  • Work closely with the engineering and construction teams to advance project design and procure long lead items.
  • Participates in transmission/interconnection process.
  • Represents the Company in community settings and in front of large landowner groups.
  • Manages all aspects of project development, from securing land rights, permits, through start of construction.
  • Manages consultants and other temporary contractors.
  • Identifies business opportunities and helps form relationships with critical utilities and other potential clients within a region.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • Mentor and be a support base for junior development staff with less experience.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, law, engineering, science, or a related field OR 3 or more years of project management experience required.
  • 3 or more years of experience in large-scale commercial project development, real estate, or land acquisition required.
  • Ability to travel 16 to 30% required.
  • Must possess a valid Drivers License.
  • Advanced experience in project development or real estate, land acquisition equivalent industry experience.
  • Advanced skills in managing the full spectrum of core responsibilities independently or with limited oversight.
  • Advanced skills in solving complex problems.
  • Intermediate skills in managing land acquisition through financial closing activity.
  • Advanced skills in managing client interactions and delivering time cost-effective projects.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, including Project.
  • Advanced Project Management Managing multiple priorities to a typical schedule.
  • Permitting/Environmental/Tax Intermediate knowledge of environmental studies and risks, discerning the reports to identify the next steps.
  • A general understanding of local, state, and federal permits that may be required. Broad knowledge of local, state, and federal tax incentives.
  • Interconnection intermediate knowledge of the grid, interconnection process, and risk.
  • Functional competencies include collaboration, attention to detail, learning on the fly, excellence, and passion.
Anticipated base salary range: $147,000 - $155,000
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible. RES offers benefits that are effective first day of employment. These benefits include the following:
