About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Civil Engineer to join our active East Coast Engineering team.

Reporting to the General Manager Engineering, youll lead a small but high-performing team of civil and structural engineers and drafters, delivering an expanded service offering of specialist engineering, design and project delivery services for clients and projects across the region.

This is an exciting opportunity for an independent and technically capable engineer who is solution focused. The objective is to grow the business by offering complementary services to existing Tetra Tech clients, and organically establish new client relationships.

You should be someone who thrives on collaboration, innovation, and team development. Youll play a key role in guiding clients through projects from concept through to operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diligently pursue excellence in project delivery across various sectors (e.g. mining, energy, utilities, transport, infrastructure)
  • Support civil engineering and designs produced by the business
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and drafters
  • Support project design, coordination, quality control, and client liaison
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, clients, and authorities to drive project success
  • Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement

About You

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • RPEQ registration (or eligibility) highly desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years of civil engineering experience, including team leadership or project management responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative leadership style.
  • Strong technical knowledge across civil design disciplines earthworks, roads, drainage, utilities, etc.
  • Passionate about mentoring others and contributing to a positive team culture.
  • Proficient with design software such as 12D, Civil 3D, or similar is preferred.
