Optical Architect

We are looking for an Optical Architect for a large telecommunications provider that will be responsible for creating and executing test plans for hardware and software certification to support the suite of services provided by the telecom provider. This role involves defining design and configuration standards as well as creating supporting documentation. The Optical Architect collaborates with engineering teams on complex solutions related to customer orders, network growth, or optimization projects while also reviewing hardware vendor technical bulletins to address potential issues within the network. Additionally, this position entails working with product teams to enhance Zayo's offerings and providing advanced level technical support along with training for operations groups. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Science or equivalent technical education with 5-8 years of related experience in telecommunications or service provider industry. An emphasis on action-oriented project management skills is important, along with expertise in developing hardware solutions within a lab environment.

This person can work hybrid in Toronto, ON or remote anywhere in the United States or Canada This position is looking to pay 45-56/hr based on skills and experience as well as benefits are offered through Insight Global while on contract.

5-8 years of experience in the telecommunications industry

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

Experience with Fiber optic networks

Experience working with DWDM, Ethernet, IP, and OTN

Hardware experience with one or more of the following: Ciena, Cisco, Huawei, Marconi, Juniper, ADVA, etc.
