POSITION SUMMARY

The Reliability Superintendent is responsible for managing the Rotating Equipment, Fixed Equipment and the Instrument/Electrical Reliability Departments. In addition to that leadership role, the position also interfaces with all the Refinery Departments routinely to integrate improvement programs, participate in selecting future project equipment and systems, support incident investigations, manage timing of events, recommend performance and safety improvements, develop Capital & Expense Project scope documents, and prepare and submit department and program budgets.

The primary focus is to provide continuous improvement in equipment reliability by implementing best practices, developing effective preventative and predictive maintenance programs, targeting solutions for bad actors and optimizing repair solutions.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required
  • Masters preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of refinery/petrochemical maintenance/reliability required
  • 5+ years supervisory experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of refinery processing preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and prioritize tasks
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Fluent in English, oral and written required
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide overall program direction for development of refinery mechanical integrity procedures and systems.
  • Maintain and report Reliability Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Maintain a current list of bad actors with proposed solutions and timelines to complete
  • Review and improve PM schedules and activities
  • Manage the use of Contractor support as necessary and within budget
  • Represent the Reliability Department in various meetings
  • Act as the Refinery Mechanical/Electrical Engineering resource
  • Prepare and issue documents as necessary to describe/explain technical recommendations
  • Act as liaison with Operations and Technical Services for troubleshooting and investigations
  • Develop Capital Projects that achieve the goals of continuous improvement in equipment reliability
  • Recommend Expense Projects/Programs that seek same goals
  • Develop annual budgets and track/manage spending to approved budgets
  • Communicates equipment reliability status and news through meetings or correspondence
  • Provide long range planning for major equipment to support Turnarounds and unit outages
  • Support the Maintenance Department on reliability solutions
  • Set individual and department goals throughout the year
  • Provide timely feedback on employee performance
  • Periodically act as Maintenance & Reliability Manager
  • Ensure inter-department commitments are met
  • Support employee improvement through formal training or industry related seminars
  • Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress, concerns and questions
