Primary Responsibilities**
HDR's Traffic Engineer works as part of a traffic team on a variety of traffic analysis and design-related transportation projects. Duties include: development of traffic studies including traffic impact analyses, traffic signal timing plans, microscopic simulation modeling, and macroscopic simulation modeling; preparing various plans, specifications, and estimates including signing and striping, traffic signals, illumination, pedestrian ramps, shared use path, and traffic control plans for state and local agencies; serving as a technical expert under the direction of the Project Manager; providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and staff members; providing additional traffic engineering, design, and production support, as needed; and performing project management duties as needed.
**Required Qualifications**
- A Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a closely related engineering field and 2 years experience in traffic engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a closely related engineering field and 5 years' experience in traffic engineering.
- Required experience may include professional or internship experience and must include experience in: traffic impact analysis, traffic planning, ArcGIS, MicroStation, Synchro, SimTraffic, Highway Capacity Analysis (HCS), and Texas Department of Transportation standards and specifications.
- Must have engineer-in-training certification or have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.
