Assistant Project Manager

Highland Consulting Group, a national executive search firm specializing in construction recruitment, is working with a Mechanical Contractor in the Albany, NY area to find an experienced Assistant Project Manager with a background in HVAC, plumbing, and piping projects.

This permanent, on-site position is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with at least 2 years of experience supporting Project Managers on new construction, retrofit, and service projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage RFIs, submittals, and construction documentation.
• Assist in overseeing all project phases, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
• Help develop and manage project schedules.
• Support negotiation and tracking of change orders.
• Assist with budget management and expense approvals.
• Support subcontractor and equipment buyouts.
• Act as a key liaison with project owners.
• Maintain comprehensive project records and closeout documentation.
• Conduct punch-list inspections with superintendents and owners.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager with a commercial mechanical contractor on projects $3 million+.
• Strong understanding of construction documentation and project management support.
• Knowledge of commercial HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
• Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• A Bachelor’s degree in construction or a related field is preferred but not required.
• As required by local law, Highland Consulting Group believes that the attached salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position.
