Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical/HVAC Engineer with specialized expertise in sustainable design, energy efficiency, and building energy simulation. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership within the team in Vancouver, managing and delivering simulation assignments, mentoring and developing energy modeling staff, and collaborating with the leadership team to grow the consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver simulation assignments within the energy modeling division.
  • Mentor and develop energy modeling staff to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to expand the consultancy's reach and impact.
  • Provide technical expertise in energy-efficient building design and simulation.
  • Conduct energy analysis studies and manage energy management programs.
  • Develop incentive programs to promote energy conservation and efficiency.
  • Deliver exceptional client service and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Commit to sustainable design practices and promote environmental responsibility.
Essential Skills
  • Expert knowledge of HVAC and lighting systems, building control systems, and building envelope design.
  • Proficiency in building energy simulation programs.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent client service.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Engineering degree in mechanical, HVAC, or building services.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license through EGBC or eligibility for registration as P.Eng.
  • Minimum of two years of direct modeling experience using IES virtual environment software.
  • Technical proficiency using APACHE HVAC to build complex HVAC networks and control sequences.
  • Minimum of four years of design experience, preferably in building HVAC design.
  • Experience performing engineering calculations to verify the accuracy of modeled results.
  • Experience interfacing with developers, general contractors, and consultants.
  • Networking experience and ability to develop leads for future work.
  • Familiarity with sustainable building rating tools such as LEED, WELL, Zero Carbon Building, etc.
  • Understanding of local and regional energy codes including NECB, ASHRAE 90.1, BC Step Code, and VBBL.
  • Experience preparing energy modeling documentation and submittals.
  • Experience developing and mentoring junior engineers and modelers.
  • Ability to review and interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical design drawings.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
