BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services, for the Lynwood Unified School District, reports directly to the Superintendent and serves as a key member of the Superintendent's Cabinet. This position holds primary responsibility for the planning, organizing, directing, and managing of the educational services division, including its functions, budget, and activities. The Assistant Superintendent is tasked with formulating and developing educational systems, standards, and procedures in compliance with all relevant district, county, federal, state, and local laws, policies, rules, and regulations.This role requires expertise and mastery in educational services and extensive administrative experience, applying knowledge to organizational leadership, policy development, and the establishment of goals, objectives, and priorities. Decisions made in this position are of highly critical consequence, often involving sensitive and political educational issues. The Assistant Superintendent will administer and manage multiple programs and departments through subordinate management and will frequently meet with the Superintendent, policymakers, internal staff, and site staff. Please see job description for complete description and duties.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:License/Credential/Certification:. Possess a valid California Administrative Services Credential . Possess a valid Teaching Credential . Master's or doctorate degree in Education, Personnel Administration or a related field. Desirable - Successful completion of ACSA Curriculum and Instruction Academy. Three years successful experience as a district/central office administrator . Five years successful experience as school site principal . Demonstrated experience providing coaching and mentoring to staff and peers

KNOWLEDGE OF: Principles, practices, methods, and techniques of services in the general services of Educational Services. Early Childhood Education and TK-Adult Education curriculum development, materials and implementation. Comprehensive management principles, practices, and methods including the general areas of personnel, fiscal administration, and information systems. Methods and approaches to administrative planning, organizational development, and resource allocation, development and monitoring. Local Control Accountability Plan and LCFF. General approach and application of accounting, budgeting, and auditing. Personnel management principles and practices including selection, training, supervision, and performance evaluation. Curriculum development, instructional program delivery strategies and program supervision. State and federal assessment programs and monitoring. Assessment and evaluation techniques utilized to appraise program quality and personnel performance. Human relations strategies, conflict resolution strategies, team building techniques, and collaborative decision-making. Education Code, Board Policies, and collective bargaining agreements. District, State, and Federal policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Current research related to instruction and learning.
