Project Controls- Estimator
Job Description

We are currently seeking an Estimator to join our growing PM/CM team. The Estimator will collaborate closely with owners, project managers, engineers, construction managers, and other stakeholders to deliver accurate cost estimates and evaluate scope change orders. The role primarily supports government projects, including PM/CM contracts, Design/Build projects, and Design/Bid/Build, with project sizes ranging from $50,000 to $5 Million. These projects encompass K-12 Education Projects, Water/Wastewater Projects, and various government facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quantity take-offs.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, focusing on civil, architectural, and structural areas.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure accurate and timely cost estimation.
  • Monitor and report on project costs, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Conduct risk analysis and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential cost overruns.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction methods.
  • Provide support during the bidding process, including reviewing and analyzing bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Conduct value engineering studies of selected projects.
  • Analyze change order requests to determine and ascertain the validity of cost elements.
  • Analyze bidding activity in the local market to assist in developing bidding strategies for upcoming projects.
  • Solicit vendors, suppliers, and contractors for pricing and confirm scope.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelors degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field OR 5+ years of detailed cost estimating experience without a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 3+ years of proven experience in developing and managing cost estimates for medium to large-scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, including scope, time, cost, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with local codes, building regulations, and AACE estimate classification systems.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools such as Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of construction estimating tools and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Certifications such as CEP, CCE, CCEA or ASPE.
  • Experience conducting market analysis for bidding strategies.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $72.11/hr.
