Job Description

This role involves developing schedules for large or multiple smaller construction projects that require complex scheduling activities. The position requires revising and reviewing project schedules with the project team, as well as monitoring and tracking progress against defined schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the work breakdown structure for large or multiple smaller construction projects with complex scheduling activities.
  • Reference the Scheduling Playbook to adhere to company policies, practices, and procedures related to scheduling.
  • Build relationships with project stakeholders to communicate the overall project plan and support project performance.
  • Collaborate with the project team to confirm the Contract Item List, develop Required On Job dates for scheduling, and review the Procurement Schedule to track and assess subcontractor commitments.
  • Develop project schedules based on Critical Path Method logic-generated baseline schedules using scheduling software.
  • Review and recommend decisions related to performance of work regarding scheduling, delivery, logistics, and Trade staffing levels.
  • Study schedule deliverables prior to publication and ask challenging questions to enhance the accuracy of the schedule.
  • Work with various project departments to prepare detailed schedules and align them with Virtual Design & Construction team models.
  • Define project schedule metrics and monitor critical path activities to achieve forecasted end-dates.
  • Contribute information required to update the project schedule dashboard and create target comparison models.
  • Present progress updates and explain risks to project stakeholders, while developing recovery strategies.
  • Challenge the project team based on schedule data for As Built vs. Planned progress.
  • Revise schedules according to the Pull Plan and incorporate the Last Planner System.
  • Identify events that impact the project schedule and develop time impact analysis for schedule changes.
  • Conduct site progress walks to capture scheduling progress data and generate reports based on client requests.
  • Provide monthly scheduling progress reports for Operations Review Meetings or other project review sessions.
  • Offer support and guidance to project end-users to develop proficiency in using scheduling software.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Marketing teams to prepare proposal scheduling activities.
  • Develop and update cost and resource-loaded schedules as needed.
  • Apply continuous improvement methodology to daily tasks and scheduling operations.
Essential Skills
  • Proficient use of scheduling software applications, such as Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Knowledge of scheduling comparison tools like Acumen Fuse and Change Inspector.
  • Understanding of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and Trade practices.
  • Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Knowledge of estimating to support project schedule development.
  • Familiarity with earned value concepts and using construction resources to validate productivity and durations.
  • Ability to manage competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • Strong process and analytical skills for decision-making.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Professional interpersonal skills to develop relationships with project team members and stakeholders.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for clear presentation to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficient computer and data entry skills, including the Microsoft Office suite of applications and collaborative tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited program in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or a related field.
  • 4 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience with large construction projects valued over $50 million.
  • Experience in construction positions like Field Engineer, Assistant Superintendent, or related.
Work Environment

The work environment involves construction settings with limited travel. The role offers hybrid flexibility, a team-oriented culture, and nice worksites. Benefits include two weeks of PTO and 12 holidays.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
