Mechanical Engineering Project Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis at our office in Newark, DE, with some flexibility to work from Philadelphia as a last resort. The role offers hybrid flexibility and involves contributing to industrial HVAC and utility system design projects, primarily in industries like pharmaceuticals and chemicals. The ideal candidate will be a technically focused mechanical engineer who can lead design efforts while contributing to production.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of mechanical utility and HVAC systems, including sizing and selection of building mechanical equipment such as air handlers, chillers, pumps, fans, cooling towers, compressors, dryers, boilers, VRF & DX split systems, and terminal devices.
  • Perform various engineering calculations, including HVAC load and ventilation air calculations, psychometrics, pipe flow/pressure drop, ductwork sizing, ductwork static pressure, and hydraulic analysis for piping sizing and layout.
  • Utilize building load calculation software such as Trane Trace.
  • Develop building energy models when necessary.
  • Apply knowledge of relevant MEP industry codes and standards, including ASHRAE, ICC Codes, NFPA, SMACNA.
  • Interact with internal team members and external stakeholders including clients, vendors, and contractors.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of professional experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Microstation, and Revit.
  • Experience with HVAC systems and equipment, including air handlers, chillers, pumps, fans, cooling towers, compressors, dryers, and boilers.
  • Knowledge of load calculations, flow dynamics, ductwork, BIM, and mechanical system design.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
