Pipeline Field Operator

Job Description

The position is located in Fort Saskatchewan, AB and follows a shift pattern of 8 days on and 6 days off. This role involves supporting day-to-day terminal operations, requiring hands-on technical expertise and a strong safety mindset. The successful candidate will be responsible for tasks such as running samples, assisting with pigging, monitoring equipment, and responding to outages.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain terminal equipment including pumps, meters, LACTs, and related systems.
• Conduct pigging operations and product sampling.
• Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
• Respond to outages and abnormal operating conditions.
• Use computer systems to manage work orders, emails, and maintenance logs.
• Ensure compliance with HSE standards and participate in emergency response training.
• Supervise third-party contractors and ensure work quality and safety.
• Maintain site housekeeping and contribute to a culture of operational excellence.

• Grade 12 diploma.
• Valid trade ticket and 4th Class Power Engineering certification.
• 3+ years of oil & gas operations experience, preferably in pipeline or terminal settings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with field operations.
• Proficient with computers and digital work order systems.
• Must be local to Fort Saskatchewan and available for 8-on/6-off rotation.

• Familiarity with pipeline pigging or scraper operations.
• Experience with oil and gas product quality sampling, including BSW test, density tests, and vapor pressure tests.
• Valid trade ticket and 4th Class Power Engineering certification is nice to have, but not necessary for the right candidate with relevant experience.

The work environment offers a shift pattern of 8 days on and 6 days off, with 10-hour workdays and potential for overtime. The position requires local residency within approximately 60 kilometers of Fort Saskatchewan. Initially, this role is for 6 months with the potential for extension up to 18 months, and it may become a full-time position.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
