Overview:

THIS WORK MATTERS!

This position works under the direction of the Program Manager 1 for the Adult and Youth Case Management program to carry out the IDDSD mission and to promote and model its values. This position is part of the management team. The management team is responsible for ensuring that the developmental disabilities programs are administered and delivered with established federal, state, and county rules, policies, and protocols. This position is designated to provide direct supervision to support case management teams by providing guidance and full coordination of ongoing case management needs including supervision of staff, training, information dissemination and assist in planning and implementation of specialized programs. This is in direct response to audit, survey, and committee recommendations.

As the Program Supervisor , other duties will include:

  • Assign work, establish work schedules, and develop work procedures consistent with the county and department's policy

  • Create plans and ways to reach goals and work goals to make sure program goals and goals are met and consistent. Change as needed to meet changing conditions.

  • Provide information, technical assistance, and professional consultation for staff to assist and advise them with complex and difficult issues

  • Convene regular section meetings to ensure that descriptions and discussion of new state and county policy and budget, and program updates: to provide forum for staff feedback, training; and opportunities for the team building

  • Monitor staff performance to make sure program goals, standards, and time-lines are met. Use different tools, like talking to staff, reports, data, client feedback, case review, and other information from the public and other sources.

  • Evaluate program systems, processes, and procedures on an ongoing basis to explore opportunities to create efficiencies and improve quality

  • Advise PM 1 regarding at-risk client or crisis that engages them or other officials, and manage the situation and related communications until the matter is resolved

  • Provide technical support and training to providers as needed

  • Liaison with community providers to assist children with developmental disabilities to access services that meet their needs, including educational, community-based, residential, and vocational programs/supports

  • Promote and foster a diverse workforce and discrimination /harassment-free workplace

  • Effectively administer personnel policies and labor agreements

  • Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, perform evaluations according to union contract and HR guidelines, and take corrective or disciplinary action as necessary

  • Implement safety and health policies/procedures to ensure supervised employees receive training so that they can safely and properly do their work

  • Provide leadership in carrying out the IDDSD mission and promoting and modeling its values

  • Promote clear and consistent communication between management and staff

  • Participate in all internal and external meetings and directed by PM1

  • Provide leadership and management representation on assigned committees, work groups, and advisory groups to recommend change to improve services

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:

Education/Training:

  • A Bachelors Degree in the areas of study, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or Business Management from an accredited college or university. (Professional work at or near the level of this position can substitute year for year for the educational requirement)

  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of relevant supervisory experience in increasing responsible professional leadership and technical program experience working with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities communities

  • Diversity and Equity; Ability to promote a culture of respect, inclusiveness, and appreciation of diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and values

  • Must have a valid drivers license

  • Must pass a background check
