HVAC New Construction Supervisor

The HVAC New Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all HVAC-related field activities at construction job sites or occupied facilities. This includes managing HVAC crews, ensuring project deadlines are met, enforcing safety and quality standards, and providing technical guidance to installers and technicians. The HVAC Supervisor acts as the liaison between project managers, subcontractors, and field employees to ensure seamless execution of HVAC systems in accordance with project specifications and company standards.

Key Responsibilities Project Oversight & Execution
  • Coordinate installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems (including ductwork, controls, furnaces, heat pumps, and AC units).

  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documents to guide field crews and subcontractors.

  • Ensure that materials, tools, and equipment are delivered and staged in accordance with project timelines.

Leadership & Supervision
  • Supervise HVAC technicians, apprentices, and subcontractors across multiple job sites.

  • Conduct daily briefings and assign tasks based on scope, priority, and technician skill level.

  • Train and mentor field employees on company procedures, safety policies, and technical skills.

Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA standards to prevent job site incidents.

  • Conduct site safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations as needed.

  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.

Quality Control & Customer Service
  • Perform inspections to ensure work meets quality and performance standards.

  • Respond to and resolve HVAC-related issues during installation and post-construction warranty periods.

  • Coordinate with clients, project managers, and inspectors to resolve technical or scheduling issues.

Reporting & Documentation
  • Track job progress, labor hours, and material usage; submit regular field reports.

  • Assist in scheduling inspections and obtaining permits when necessary.

  • Support project closeout activities including punch lists and system startups.

Specific Qualifications

Qualifications Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical HVAC training or certification preferred.

  • Minimum 4+ years of HVAC installation/service experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • Experience in residential construction or multi-family dwellings preferred.

Licenses & Certifications
  • State HVAC license (where applicable).

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, schematics, and installation best practices.

  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Proficient with mobile workforce apps, basic MS Office tools, and work order systems.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Work is performed at construction job sites and may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and dust.

  • Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working from ladders or scaffolding.
