Additionally this individual will have sufficiently demonstrated the ability to operate all equipment and complete all responsibilities included in the Terminal Operator 2 and Terminal Operator 3 positions.Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Is an active participant of the facility SHE programs. Maintains good working knowledge of SHE policies, rules and procedures applicable to area of responsibility and ensures all applicable requirements are adhered to.
Mastery of the safe operational capabilities of the Heyl Patterson barge Unloader and barge winching systems.
Operator must have sufficient ability to operate the Unloader and winching systems safely and productively in all conditions including high / low river conditions, inclement weather and over a wide range of grains and grain by-products.
Operator must understand the overall barge unloading process sufficiently to direct and manage the barge fleet movements, barge cover handling operations and tractor clean-up operations.
Operator must possess the ability to recognize and identify the various grains and grain by-products and communicate that information to the control room operator before each barge unload operation begins.
Operator must complete unload records for each barge accurately and completely for the HP operators position or cover station position.
Operator must possess the ability to communicate directly with the control room operators to plan and execute barge-unloading operations.
Operator must possess the ability to communicate directly with the fleet tug operator to safely and productively move barges from the fleet into the barge slip then take empty barges away from the barge slip back to the fleet.
Operator must possess the ability to communicate the operational status of the Unloader and winching systems to maintenance personnel. Further, the operator must have sufficient knowledge of the Unloader and winching systems to recognize deficiencies in the operational status of the equipment and communicate those deficiencies to the maintenance group.
Operator must operate the Unloader in a manner that is consistent with LDC environmental policies and take appropriate steps to ensure compliance with LDC environmental policies.
Operator must fully recognize hazards associated with a barge unloading operation and take appropriate steps to ensure that all personnel working in the barge unloading operations adhere to safe operating rules and policies.

Regular attendance at safety meetings and training sessions as directed by the General Superintendent and SHE manager.
Know and understand duties and responsibilities in the event of an emergency evacuation or man overboard emergency.
Must have the ability and must continually utilize good/clear/calm/concise communications.
Be mutually respectful of co-workers, management, contractors and visitors.
Perform miscellaneous duties, functions, and responsibilities as assigned by LD management.
Performs assigned jobs by management, which can include maintenance, and unskilled labor jobs as deemed necessary by management in order to continue the efficient operations of the facility.
Utilizes experience and knowledge to mentor, train and occasionally direct members of immediate crew, including exercising cautions and preventative measures relating to SHE conditions.QualificationsEducation/Professional Certifications/Licenses
