This positionis responsible to transfer, secure, and stage freight by operating forklifts andother equipment to load and unload trailers so that freight will arrive at finaldestination in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. About the opportunity: The Warehouse Materials Handler/Forklift Operator isresponsible for multiple tasks within our fast-paced warehouse including butnot limited to: safely operating warehouse equipment including sit-down forkliftto load, unload, and position freight, perform manual labor as needed and assistwith securing loads. Experience with carpentry is highly preferred. Workschedule is Monday - Friday 7.30am - 4.30pm and work location is: 9016Palmetto Commerce Parkway, Ladson, SC.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform or assist in terminal maintenance by using motorized equipment andhand/power tools for the safe upkeep of the property. Ability to safely operateequipment and move loads in both indoor and outdoor environments.Assist with the preparing of all loads for shipping by following all DOT,OSHA, and company safety guidelines to protect the load, public, equipment, andproperty at all times whether trailers or rail cars. Safely assist during thetrailer stacking, unstacking and securing.Operate portable inventory scanning equipment and look up shippinginstructions in computer systems.Pick palletized units out of locations above floor height and set up foroutbound shipment.Load and unload materials on and off pallets, skids, or lifting device.Complete daily safety inspection checks and clean propane powered forkliftas needed.Build crates for assembly at our location and/or as needed at customerlocations.In support of ATS's culture, all employees are expected to consistently,effectively and reliably perform in accordance with the Company's values as setforth in our core competencies and behaviors.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

3 - 5 years verifiable experience operating a variety of warehouseequipment and working in a warehouse environment. Forklift certification orability to become certified within 90 days of employment.High School Diploma or equivalent.Ability to safely operate all yard related equipment (for example, skidloader/skid-steer) and power and hand tools.Ability to be self-motivated, multi-task, work independently as well as workin a team environment.Possess good decision-making, problem-solving, attention to detail, customerservice skills (internal/external) and good communication skills (written,listening and verbal).Possess mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills.Valid Driver's license preferred, but not required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Must be comfortable working in an environment with: loud noises constantlyrequiring ear protection, frequent temperature extremes due to outside weatherconditions, being exposed to dirt, dust, grease, and ability to wear eyeprotection and steel toed boots.Constantly operating various forklifts and moves product i.e., tractors,frontend loaders, etc.Intermittently: uses hand tools and power hand tools to perform lightmaintenance or cleaning, inspects and assess equipment and loads to ensure safetransportation, climbs up/down forklifts, tractors and ladders to performduties.Occasionally: positioning self under, on top of, or in awkward positions tosecure loads or fix things, communicates with others regarding work questions,processes, procedures and timelines.Must be able to safely lift/move parts, tools, equipment: from 1 to 10 lbs.frequently, from 11 to 25 lbs. intermittently, from 25 to 50 lbs occasionally,over 50 lbs. seldom.

Compensation & Benefits:

The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is between $18.00 -$22.00. Hourly pay rate offered is determined by relevant experience,education, certifications, and geographic location as compared to others doingsubstantially similar work.Anderson Trucking Service is committed to supporting our employees with acomprehensive benefits package.
