Painter Helper(Shipyard Experience)-** **$18/HR**
**Job Description**
As a Painter Helper, you will assist skilled painters in cleaning and preparing wood or metal surfaces for painting. You will remove dirt, grease, rust, scale, and other contaminants and mask and tape areas not requiring painting. You will support painters as they paint parts, equipment, and structural surfaces on the interior and exterior of ships and shipyard buildings. You will also assist painters in mixing materials according to Product Data Sheets and support them in inspecting prepped and painted areas, performing touch-up work as needed.
**Responsibilities**
+ Assist skilled painters with cleaning and preparing surfaces for painting.
+ Remove dirt, grease, rust, scale, and other contaminants from surfaces.
+ Mask and tape areas not requiring painting.
+ Support painters in painting parts, equipment, and structural surfaces.
+ Assist in mixing painting materials according to Product Data Sheets.
+ Perform touch-up work and support inspection of painted areas.
**Essential Skills**
+ Knowledge of basic painting applications.
+ Experience in paint preparation and masking techniques.
+ Proficiency with hand tools.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Previous shipyard experience is preferred.
+ Must be eligible to work at NASSCO.
+ Flexibility to work all shifts.
+ Must provide own tools.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
