As a member of an energetic and fast-paced engineering team, you be involved in the mechanical design of advanced high voltage power electronics converters used in medical imaging, analytical instrumentation, industrial test equipment, security & under water communication, amongst many others. What You Will Do:

You will be immersed in the Engineering product design and development environment and will work with other experts on the team and will use your engineering background to understand the product requirements and carry out required design trade-offs and analyses (Mechanical packaging, structural and thermal analyses).

  • Mechanical design and packaging of Spellman products
  • Participate in the design review meetings to help conceptualize the product, interface with both outside and inside customers to assure proper fit and compliance with all requirements
  • Work directly with other engineers to design and document various Printed Circuit Bords for various electrical and controls applications.
  • Design proper mechanical packaging of products using various CAD & Analysis tools to ensure meeting customer specs and allow efficient manufacturing in our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities or outside suppliers
  • Demonstrate compliance with product specific design and application requirements through engineering calculations including mechanical and thermal stresses
  • Collaborate closely with the electrical engineers, other members of the Mechanical Design group, the Manufacturing Engineering and the Quality Teams, to produce the most suitable product satisfying stringent design criterias and the DFX guidelines for manufacturability and reliability
  • Design documentation, which is one of the most important tasks for the mechanical engineering group; this entails creating 2D/3D detailed parts and full assembly drawings, creating and maintaining BOMs and revisions and specifying new parts and processes
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of our wide array of existing products is also an important part of what mechanical engineering does, building upon our 70+ years of experience and continuously optimize and upgrade our vast array of existing products

What You Have:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is required
  • 3 to 5 years min. (7+ years preferred) of experience designing high density power electronic packaging in general and switching power supplies and alike, using AutoCAD & Inventor or similar software such as SolidWorks is required. Strong working knowledge and understanding of electro-mechanical and interconnect components is required
  • Broad knowledge of mechanical housing fabrication processes such as sheet metal, weldments, mechanical fastener systems is required. Experience with casting and plastic molding as well, is a plus
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems in elation with engineering items and BOMs is required
  • Experience with mechanical and thermal management systems using FEA software such as Ansys is highly desirable
  • Ability to grasp complex technical topics and abstract key issues and risks in an actionable form
  • Well organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills

Our good faith estimate of the salary range for this role is $122,000- - $144,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and other factors. In addition to base pay, we offer a full benefits package.
