Slayden Constructors Inc. (SCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of MWH Constructors, Inc. (MWH), is currently seeking an Equipment CDL Driver to support construction projects with equipment and delivery needs out of Salem, Oregon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of diesel engines, gas-powered vehicles, and heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, dozers, trucks, trailers).
  • Learn to perform preventive maintenance services, oil changes, fluid checks, brake inspections, and tire repairs.
  • Support diagnostic efforts on equipment malfunctions and assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Use tools and equipment safely under supervision.
  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces, shop areas, and tools.
  • Document maintenance activities and service reports accurately.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and participate in safety meetings and training.
  • Transport tools or equipment between jobsites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Equipment Manager or Lead Mechanic.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a vocational or technical training program in diesel, gas, or heavy equipment repair (preferred).
  • Basic understanding of engine types, mechanical systems, and hand tools.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior mechanics.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor environments, including in inclement weather.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous hands-on experience working with engines or mechanical systems (school, personal projects, or work-related).
  • OSHA 10 or equipment-specific certifications.
  • CDL or the ability to obtain one (a plus).
