Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an AutoCAD Drafting Technician with experience in utility permitting to join our client's team. The candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD, incorporating GIS data, and ensuring compliance with city, county, and state permitting requirements. The role involves downloading and processing GIS data, importing it into AutoCAD with accurate coordinate systems, and tracing additional features from aerial imagery as needed. This is a work-from-home position.

Pay: $25-30/hr

Shift: Full time, Monday-Friday, Day's, Remote, Project Based

Key Responsibilities

  • Download GIS data (road centerlines, parcels, right-of-way lines, and utility data) from city, county, or state online GIS systems and Katapult Pro.

  • Import GIS data into AutoCAD, ensuring consistent or converted coordinate systems.

  • Trace missing features from aerial imagery to complete drawings.

  • Prepare accurate technical drawings and plans for utility permit applications.

  • Verify compliance with local permitting standards and regulations.

  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure drawings meet project specifications.

  • Maintain organized records of drawings, data sources, and project files.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or technical certification in drafting, CAD, or related field.

  • 2+ years of experience using AutoCAD for drafting, preferably in utility or civil projects.

  • Proficiency in working with GIS data and coordinate systems.

  • Experience with utility permitting processes and requirements.

  • Familiarity with Katapult Pro or similar data collection applications (preferred).

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret aerial imagery.

  • Excellent time management and ability to meet project deadlines.

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to utility permits.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment

  • Fully remote, work-from-home position.

  • Full-time with standard business hours; some overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
