Position Overview

The Project Manager plays a critical role in driving the success of bo th public and private construction projects by leveraging experience, industry knowledge, and strategic foresight. Acting as the central liaison among clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, the Project Manager drives performance, change management, and progress reporting in alignment with organizational goals and client expectations. This role demands a strategic mindset, technical acumen, and strong leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as the Project Manager fosters long-term partnerships while ensuring project execution adheres to contractual obligations. A deep understanding of construction practices, forecasting, and operational planning is required. This role demands sound judgment in a dynamic environment and operates with a high degree of autonomy.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits to evaluate conditions and meet with clients or representatives.
  • Prepare bids by reviewing project specifications, collecting subcontractor pricing, and analyzing cost-effective alternatives.
  • Submit competitive quotes to primes and ensure timely bid submissions.
  • Coordinate all contract documents and approvals post-award, ensuring alignment with project timelines and compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, production, and safety departments to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Manage subcontractor communications, schedules, materials, and compliance with EEOC and safety training.
  • Lead project-specific training, pre-construction meetings, and interdepartmental coordination.
  • Negotiate and process change orders, monthly pay estimates, and contract modifications in writing.
  • Monitor and reconcile job costs in collaboration with the Operations team.
  • Ensure compliance with project specs, quality expectations, and customer satisfaction.
  • Take ownership of the job site with leadership, initiative, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred and 5 years of work experience in project management, including bidding, estimating, field coordination, or supervisory roles.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening and testing.
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
  • Proficient with Windows-based systems and office software.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience interpreting schematics, proposal drawings, and engineering documents is a plus.

Physical Demands

The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met in Construction/Materials Operations to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to hear and speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form is required to complete tasks in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include color, close, and distance vision, as well as peripheral, depth, and focus perception vision.
  • Work can be performed at heights, requiring the employee to climb and balance in ladders, scaffolds and stair towers, often with narrow steps and passageways.
  • This position requires walking, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crawling, crouching, and lifting.
  • Regularly required to sit and/or stand during a work shift of at least eight hours per day, on uneven surfaces, including natural ground and slopes in varying weather conditions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to carry, lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs without assistance
  • Ability to operate equipment under extreme temperatures and for extended hours.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, based on project needs and demands.

Work Environment

The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met in Construction Operations to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Work is performed outdoors, on a job site, in extreme weather conditions and for extended hours.
  • Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, dirt, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
  • Employee regularly works with or near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Work may involve a variety of substances or materials commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, asphalt and concrete.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, frequently walks on uneven surfaces, including natural ground and slopes, in varying weather conditions, and is regularly exposed to wet, humid condition airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet but may require protective equipment at some facilities.
