What you will do

Johnson Controls is seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Development Manager to join our team. In this key role, you will leverage your past sales and sales development experience to manage and mentor the participants of the ACE (Accelerated Commercial Excellence) program, steering them towards becoming top-notch front-line sales professionals within our diverse Product Business Units that cater to the North American market. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI but open to considering other Johnson Controls Products Hubs (Milwaukee-WI, Chicago-IL, Westford-MA, York-PA, San Antonio-TX).

This role is pivotal in driving our commercial strategy and ensuring the growth and success of our sales team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales leadership and a passion for developing talent.

How you will do it

  • Lead an early career program aimed at developing sales professionals right out of college. This includes designing and executing training programs, providing mentorship, and ensuring a smooth transition from academia to a professional sales environment.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the ACE Program to prepare program participants to become top-notch front-line-sellers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of sales strategies with overall business goals.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions with program participants, providing ongoing mentorship and guidance to facilitate their personal and professional development throughout the program.
  • Design and implement comprehensive training schedules that encompass product knowledge, systems education, and tools proficiency while proactively introducing new products and innovations. Collaborate with other early career program managers at Johnson Controls to maximize resource efficiency and training effectiveness.
  • Ensure that participants receive thorough training in Sales Management Disciplines by leveraging Johnson Controls' internal subject matter experts in areas such as account planning, customer management, and strategic sales methodology.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to proactively recruit, market, and promote the ACE program at leading universities to attract top-tier talent and ensure a diverse and inclusive candidate pool.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the ACE team.

What you will need

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in business administration, program management, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in direct sales combined with sales leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of sales processes, customer relationship management, and market dynamics.
  • Experience in designing and implementing training programs for early career professionals is highly desirable.
  • Program management experience, showcasing a successful track record of managing complex projects and initiatives.
  • Proficient in Salesforce, with the ability to effectively utilize technology for performance tracking and analysis.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 10% of the time, as necessary.
