Position Summary:
The (DD) Design - Drafter will be responsible for the proper execution and timely completion of key assigned design, take-off and drafting on projects and accounts to meet customer and company expectations on the design stage of the sales cycle in the project. The (DD) Design - Drafter will communicate all project cycle activity, monitor and measure progress through the design cycle and make necessary adjustments to assure that the design aspect of the assigned project or account meets the required deadline to completion. The (DD) Design - Drafter will work under an assigned (PM) Project Manager, (DS) Drafting Supervisor or (STM) Sales Territory Manager on Safety, Take-Off, Dimensional Drawings, Site Access, Site Contact, or Installer. The (DD) Design Drafter will work with the (PM) Project Manager, (DS) Drafting Supervisor and or (STM) Sales Territory Manager to meet expectations on the given Project Plan derived from the Filemaker Database.
Position Requirements:
The (DD) Design - Drafter must have the following credentials:
1. A preferred two-year college degree in an engineering technology design (Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Technology, Associates in Applied Science, A.A.S.).
2. Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in the use of AutoCAD/Solid Works and a working knowledge of mechanical systems.
3. Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in flat pattern layout.
4. Computer software skills in MS Office.
5. Hand Mechanical Drawing Skills for obtaining field take-off information.
6. Construction site experience is a plus.
7. Be physically fit for site work.
8. Be willing to travel throughout the U.S. and Canada.
9. Have a valid drivers license.
Customer Expectations:
The (DD) Design - Drafter must execute the following:
1. Know and understand all Terms & Conditions of each project.
2. Know and understand all expressed and implied commitments, all customer expectations, and design schedules.
3. Become the Design Focal Point throughout the fulfillment of the project or account if called upon to do so, including, scheduled communications on take-off, delivery & installation. The
4. Communicate with installers an on-site Readiness Review prior to installation and communicate specific details of the project with the guidance of a project manager.
5. Communicate with the customer a Project Close-Out with written acceptance and approval for payment (Optional Upon Written Request) if necessary.
6. Manage customer follow-ups, a project punch-list, reworks.
7. Provide continued support in the event of a post-shipment product non-compliance.
8. Meet the required completion date.
Project & Account Execution:
The (DD) Design - Drafter will:
1. Participate in key elements of the project or assigned account, determined, and executed by the (PM) Project Manager and the (DS) Drafting Supervisor.
2. Review and understand the project or account scope assigned as energy survey details, submittal details, CAD drawings, field photos and project or account information flow as well as all terms and conditions of the project or account.
3. Meet targeted objectives.
4. Follow the Filemaker schedule on planned completion dates on take-off and design.
5. Monitor activity and review variances in planned to actual performance, based on the given schedule.
Organization & Leadership Responsibilities:
The (DD) Design - Drafter must:
1. Know, understand, and demonstrate support of The Company Design Manual, its standards, principles & processes.
2. Understand and support compliance to company administrative policies and procedures.
3. Engage with all customers, employing professionalism, representing the company and unconditionally maintain clear ethics in all actions and interactions with customers and sub-contractors.
