Overview

TransitAmerica Services, Inc. is currently seeking a Superintendent of Track & Structures in Menlo Park, CA to join our team.

The Superintendent of Track and Structures will be qualified on RWP, OTS, SPTMC, FRA, CPUC, and AREMA standards and/or regulations respectively. The position is responsible for the development of work plans and schedules.

The pay range for this position is $115,000 - $130,000 annually.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and Evaluate the Track Inspection Process, Track Inspectors, and Track Inspection Records.
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of safety, training, and compliance programs.
  • Assist and lead safety shutdowns.
  • Read and understand construction civil plans and geometry car data.
  • Escort and provide professional assistance to the FRA, CPUC during their visits. This includes compiling the reports to be sent to the JPB once the inspection is complete, and conducting follow up on the defects found to ensure repairs re complete.
  • Execute a development plan, development meetings, evaluations, communication, training, and field interaction.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of inspection and maintenance of track, roadbed, signals, communications, and computer systems.
  • Assist and publish the weekly work plan by working with the Track Inspectors and Signal Maintainers.
  • Assist in the implementation of a work order program.
  • Ensure the rail detector and UT car is escorted properly and professionally. Follow up on repairs and remedial action.
  • Assist with the investigation of vehicle accidents, and drug and alcohol testing.
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and statistical databases.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • 5 years of previous experience from a Class 1 railroad or passenger transportation system is preferred.
  • Experience in performing railroad maintenance and right of way work projects, coordinating and assisting with the maintenance of railroad tracks and structures, oversight of contracts for construction and/or maintenance, reading and understanding prints and technical specifications, rules and regulations, inspecting tracks and structures associated with railroad maintenance, and review of track safety and quality assurance; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7 designation or documentation of eligibility.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements of this job.

  • Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
