Structural Field Engineer

A Structural Field Engineer is needed for a global engineering, construction and project management company in the Thacker Pass, NV area. This job oversees the technical execution, safety, and quality of steel and concrete construction activities on complex projects, coordinating with subcontractors, engineering teams, and field personnel to ensure timely and compliant project delivery.

responsibilities:

• Provide technical oversight for all structural steel work on the project.
  
  
• Direct both direct-hire workforce and supervision staff.
  
  
• Manage all aspects of steel-related structural activities.
  
  
• Support concrete and steel structure construction across all phases.
  
  
• Coordinate work schedules and material deliveries with supervision.
  
  
• Complete required training programs.
  
  
• Prepare installation work packages for concrete and steel.
  
  
• Inspect field installations and maintain related documentation.
  
  
• Perform quantity take-offs, control, reporting, and forecasting for civil/structural scopes.
  
  
• Prepare field change documents and as-built documentation.
  
  
• Interface with engineering teams to resolve design and constructability issues.
  
  
• Assist superintendents and subcontractors with constructability and quality matters.
  
  
• Work with suppliers to verify compliance with drawings and specifications.
  
  
• Prepare material requisitions and review vendor drawings.
  
  
• Coordinate with procurement and expediting teams to ensure timely material delivery.
  
  
• Interpret and understand design drawings.
  
  
• Complete concrete material take-offs.
  
  
• Ensure proper material storage to meet environmental protection standards.
  
  
• Conduct material receipt inspections as needed.
  
  
• Review specifications, inspection reports, delivery schedules, manuals, and technical data.
  
  
• Contribute to construction estimate preparations.
  
  
• Recommend design or installation improvements to enhance project safety.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• B.S. degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred (can be waived with equivalent experience).
  
  
• Minimum 6-8 years of field civil/structural engineering experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Experience with direct-hire craft work.
  
  
• Contract management experience.
  
  
• Familiarity with company work processes and Standard Work Process Procedures.
  
  
• Experience in mining and metals projects.
  
  
• Knowledge of company software tools (e.g., ACONEX, TEAMWorks, PTR, eSub, Productivity System).
  
  
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and database tools.
  
  
• Working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards.
