Job Description:

Our client, a construction management services firm, is curently seeking a Superintendent to work on-site at their customers manufacturing & distribution center based in the greater Los Angeles area. The Superintendent will supervise on-going site construction projects, including their organization, planning, and scheduling, in order to complete the work on time, within budget, and to quality specified.

Position Duties:

  • Primary liaison with owners/ architects/ engineers for the day-to-day construction activities of the project.
  • Develop and implement overall project work schedules identifying the critical path including the expediting of scheduled critical materials and equipment for their timely delivery to site.
  • Lead, supervising and developing all company field staff, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals.
  • Develop and manage the overall site safety program as required and ensuring subcontractor compliance with company standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Manage and make decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade employee staffing levels.
  • Oversee work among all trades to promote and coordinate project operations. Resolving local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule and all other appropriate matters.
  • Manage labor relations with subcontractors and company trade staff.
  • Implement mock-ups and associated testing, review and approval.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and insurance are in place and kept current for the term of the project. Acting as liaison to inspection agencies.
  • Perform in the capacity of Storm water Compliance Coordinator (SCC) in accordance with Company Storm water Compliance Program.
  • Manage the General Conditions and General Requirements for the project to maintain budget.
  • Manage the billing process as it relates to Work-In-Place (WIP) and overseeing the monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices and subcontractor payment applications.
  • Manage the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Approximately 5-8 years of internal or external experience in a similar role or education equivalent. Specialized expertise in multiple systems, processes, and market sectors.
  • Education or Education Equivalent: 4-year degree in Engineering, Construction, or Architecture from an accredited College or University. Other related degrees accepted if supported by construction-oriented coursework or relevant experience.
  • Possesses deep subject matter expertise across various systems, processes, and market sectors; leads complex projects successfully; mentors, coaches, and develops talent; oversees departmental functions.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the general and subcontract documents, drawings, specifications, construction means, methods and materials, understanding of line and grade and survey methods.
  • Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures.
  • Ability to implement leading-edge technologies such as Lean to benefit the project.
  • Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, as well as estimating and project management utilizing cost accounting software (Viewpoint preferred) and Procore.
  • Capable of training and advising others effectively.
  • Quick to grasp new systems, processes, or market sectors.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills with diverse teams.
  • Able to train and support colleagues efficiently.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate effectively with diverse audiences through various mediums, including written reports, business correspondence, and presentations.
  • Proficiency in numerical calculations, including discounts, percentages, and basic algebraic concepts.
  • Capacity to analyze problems, gather data, and make informed decisions based on factual evidence, while also interpreting technical instructions.
