Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Custom Crate Builder to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for constructing custom wooden crates used for shipping, storage, and protection of a wide variety of items, including industrial equipment, artwork, and sensitive materials. This position requires proficiency in both power and hand tools, the ability to read and interpret designs or specifications, and a strong commitment to quality craftsmanship and safety.

Shift: 1 st (Monday through Friday 6 am to 2:30 pm
Salary: $20 an hour
Starting as a 3 month contract role but could turn permanent for the right candidate
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure, cut, and assemble wooden crates to custom specifications using power saws, drills, nail guns, and hand tools.
- Interpret blueprints, shipping requirements, or client specifications to determine crate dimensions and reinforcements.
- Select appropriate wood and hardware for each project, ensuring materials meet durability and protection standards.
- Install cushioning, braces, blocking, and other protective features as needed.
- Inspect finished crates for accuracy, durability, and overall quality.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Operate forklifts or pallet jacks to move materials or completed crates (if certified).
- Collaborate with production team and supervisors to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational training or relevant certifications a plus.
- Proven experience in woodworking, carpentry, or crate construction.
- Strong knowledge of wood materials, fasteners, and construction techniques.
- Proficiency with hand tools (e.g., hammers, screwdrivers, tape measures) and power tools (e.g., circular saws, nail guns, drills).
- Ability to read blueprints, tape measures, and interpret custom specifications.
- Physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship and safety.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
- Ability to pass a preemployment screening
